2006-2007.

Mixed media, 2.25 x 2.25 x 4.25 inches.

"[Sh][oe]" is one of the most miniature pieces to date.

Shoes, particularly a woman's high heal,  are often considered a passion or fetish.

The object here, began as a bridal cake decoration, and was therefore,  always unwearable.

However, it has been further renedered "non-utilitarian"  because of the papier mache used as the "leather" and because of its new mechanical parts.

When unlatched and fully opened, the shoe can be manipulated into an object reminiscent of a Victiorian "love seat."

In this configura-tion, what is already a sexualized object is further intensified because of the two figures who appear to "inhabit" it--the woman in the heal end and the man staring out of the keyhole set into the front tip of the high heal.

The manipulation of the shoe places them in a fetishized pas de deux.
